Brief History:

The Department of Botany was established in 1990 with the inception of the Science Faculty. It has since emerged as a leading department in the field of plant science education and research. Since its founding, the department's progress has been closely linked to the efforts of former Principal and Head of Department, Dr. V.N. Kadam. Despite significant contributions to various academic and research areas, the department remains committed to pursuing excellence.Currently staffed by three faculty members, the department has built a strong reputation over three decades for its teaching and research in Mycology, Plant Pathology, Ecology and Taxonomy, Plant Physiology, Water Biology, and Phytochemistry.
 

Aims and Objectives of the Department:

  • Inspire students through effective teaching.
  • Cultivate a research-oriented mindset in students.
  • Foster awareness of natural resources, biodiversity, and environmental conservation.
  • Develop students' experimental, observational, and computational skills to prepare them as ambassadors for sustainable development in India.
